I love working in education. I love teaching. I love working with young people. But there are underlying issues here. One of the hardest parts about being a male teacher in our society today is money. As the "head of my family" I am expected to earn enough to support whatever my family needs, right? However, I chose a profession that makes it very difficult to do that. So that's the rub. I can either stay in the profession that I love, and not be able to provide my kids with the opportunities I would like to, or I can leave teaching and take a job elsewhere that I might hate, but I would make more money.
